Therapy for Transforming Trauma
Hello and welcome!
My name is Zach, and I am a somatic therapist based on Austin. I offer in-person services in Austin, as well as virtual therapy for individuals all across Texas, Colorado, and Arkansas. I support people of all backgrounds and identities as they move toward healing, growth, and deeper self-understanding. I most often work with individuals struggling with:
Unresolved Trauma/PTSD
Healing from Abuse
Identity Exploration
Grief and Loss
Relationship Struggles
Depression & Anxiety
Often people come to me when they are feeling overwhelmed with current life circumstances, when they realize they are still struggling with unresolved traumas from the past, or when they are feeling adrift in life without being able to pinpoint why. Regardless of your reason for seeking therapy, I am dedicated to creating space for you to be you-- holding space for healing of old wounds, exploring your values, and helping you peel back the layers to find your deepest, most authentic self.
What is Somatic Therapy?
Often, our deepest wounds lie beyond cognition and language, and therefore cannot be healed through strictly cognitively-focused approaches. For that reason, my focus is often on your experience in the present moment. Combining knowledge about contemporary neuroscience with my training in a variety of mind-body therapies such as Hakomi Somatic Psychotherapy, Somatic Experiencing, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR), and Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) I will support you in learning the language of your present moment experience. This may include:
the emotions you are feeling
the sensations you are noticing in your body
implicit beliefs about yourself/others that influence how you “show up” in the world
What happens inside when you take the time to get curious about your inner experience? In therapy with me, we will foster an environment of safety and curiosity that will allow you to feel deeply and to experiment with different ways of showing up in the world, both for yourself and for others. Many people who have not benefited from ‘traditional’ talk therapy find this approach valuable.
